Spirit, the indomitable steed

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a traditional 2D and 3D animation film. Launched by Dreamworks Animation for the year 2002. This film was under the direction of Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook.

Some concepts

Cimarron: Cimarron is any pet that escapes from its owners and feeds. In some areas, wild animals are also called cimarrones with domestic relatives.

Stallion: A stallion is a male horse that has not been gelded. Stallions follow the conformation and phenotype of their breed, but within that standard, the presence of hormones such as testosterone may give stallions a thicker, “cresty” neck, as well as a somewhat more muscular physique as compared to female horses, known as mares, and castrated males, called geldings.

Spirit is a wild horse that crosses the North American border in search of the lost freedom. He thus becomes one of the anonymous heroes of the Old West. Since the Spirit horse was a foal, he already demonstrated leader skills within his pack. His mother was proud, even if she did some mischief. Soon he became a young horse that lived up to his status as a savage, riding through the extraordinary landscape of the West.

In addition the buffaloes surrendered before the horse Spirit. But one day he sins for being extremely curious, and in spite of being warned by the other horses of his herd, there follows an unknown light that turns out to be a bonfire made by humans, beings that he had never seen before. Spirit is caught and this is the beginning of the end. The Spirit horse is transferred to a Seventh Cavalry barracks to be tamed. But it becomes a legend because the horse that could never be tamed, fought for its freedom and never lost its wild spirit.

The Spirit horse is a mustang steed. Mustangs are the wild horses of North America. In reality, they are maroon horses, that is, animals that escape or lose and that have adapted to live in nature.

The cimarron horses

Cimarron horses are descendants of lost domestic horses, escaped or that were deliberately released to the wild world and managed to survive and reproduce there.

Cimarron live in groups called bands, horses, or herds. The herds of wild horses, are made up of small groups led by a dominant male horse, as seen in the movie Spirit: the indomitable steed.

In this order of ideas, Australia has the largest number of cimaron horses in the world, with a number that exceeds 400,000 baguales horses. The equivalent name of the mustang in Australia is the brumby, the cimarron descendants of horses brought to Australia by British settlers.

Movie premiere

The film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron premieres on May 19, 2002. He was in theaters for two months on the bill, and became a blockbuster. With a budget of 80 million dollars achieved an income of 122.5 million dollars
