Pablo Barrios, the Venezuelan rider

Pablo Barrios, outstanding Venezuelan athlete of the riding specialty who was champion of Central America and the Caribbean in Mayagüez 2010.

He has excelled in the Central American and Caribbean Games in his editions Mayaguez 2010, Veracruz 2014 and Barranquilla 2018.

He also qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games and participated in Rio 2016, replacing the rider Andrés Rodriguez, who died tragically on January 4, 2016 in Miami, after suffering a serious car accident.

Central American and Caribbean Games Mayaguez 2010.

His performance in the twenty-first edition of the games (Central American and Caribbean Games Mallaguez 2010), was identified as the twenty-ninth athlete with the highest number of medals among all participants of the event, with a total of 3 medals:

  • Individual jump: Gold medal
  • Overall: Gold Medal
  • Participation by teams: Gold medal

In the Central American and Caribbean games Veracruz 2014 were held from November 14 to 30, 2014 in the city of Veracruz. It was the fourth time that Mexico organized the games, although in the three previous editions they played in the capital of the country.

On this occasion Pablo Barrios highlighted with 2 medals which were distributed as follows:

  • Jump: Gold Medal
  • Individual fast jump: Gold Medal

Central American and Caribbean Games Barranquilla 2018.

The champion of Central America and the Caribbean in Mayagüez 2010, returned to make theirs from the Army Riding School after adding two gilded.

Along with his loyal companion, Le Vio, Barrios led the podium of individual jump with time of 41.00, also closed as Overall Champion of the Central American and Caribbean Games Barranquilla 2018.

The first gold was achieved by overcoming in the individual jump the Mexican Francisco Pasquel and his compatriot Enmanuel Andrade, who was left with the bronze metal of this competition.

Barrios closed performance with three medals: Two gold and one bronze.

With this title, Barrios repeats what was done in the edition of Veracruz 2014.

Participation in Summer Olympics

Pablo Barrios has participated in the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games

He participated in the Beijing 2008 edition, where he finished with his steed Sinatra in position 40. Pablo Barios managed to qualify to the final of the category of individual horseback riding

Summer Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016

The rider was placed in the number 54 space in the second qualifying round and was two places away from qualifying to the final in the category of individual riding.

The rider could not improve his location achieved in Beijing 2008, when he finished in number 40.

Pablo Barrios attended Rio in substitution of rider Andrés Rodríguez. Andrés Rodríguez had managed to qualify for the Olympic event by winning a silver medal at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

A Venezuelan rider who has excelled in a multitude of international competitions, raising the flag of Venezuela and playing our national anthem. An example of hard work and perseverance to follow.
