Goldencents: An awesome horse

Rate this post

Goldencents is an American thoroughbred racehorse, who was born on March 7, 2010. This horse is best known for winning consecutive races of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. It is worth noting that at two years of age he raced three times, won the Delta Jackpot Stakes and finished second in the Champagne Stakes (United States).

In the following year he won the Sham Stakes and the Santa Anita Derby. At four years of age he won the Pat O’Brien Stakes and finished second on three occasions, before winning his second Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

More information about the Goldencents

Goldencents is a bay horse with a narrow white glow on its hind legs. He was raised in Kentucky by Rosecrest Farm & Karyn Pirrello. It is the first generation of foals bred by Into Mischief. Whose greater victory was when he was two years in the 2007 Hollywood Futurity.

Goldencents was consigned to the annual sale of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall 2011 and was purchased for $ 5,500 by Webb Carroll. In turn, the colt was put on sale again in June 2012 and was purchased for $ 62,000 by Dennis O’Neill. During his sporting career, Goldencents has been trained by Doug O’Neill. It is owned by W C Racing of Glenn Sorgenstein with a variety of partners.

2012 racing season

Goldencents made a successful debut at the racecourse in an inaugural race at Del Mar on September 2, winning. In this race he was ridden by Kevin Krigger, who was associated with the colt in all his first competitions. He immediately moved to Grade I level for the Champagne Stakes (United States) in Belmont Park on October 6. He led early, but was overtaken by Shanghai Bobby. In his last appearance of the season, the colt started with 13/5 seconds of favorite for the Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes on November 17. Registering his first great success, beating Berna favored by a length of one quarter.

Racing season 2013

The horse won three of his ten races when he was three years old in 2013. He started the year with three races at Santa Anita Park. In Grade III, Sham Stakes, on January 5, started with 2/5 of favorites and won by one and a half lengths of Den’s Legacy. O’Neill described the horse as “a brilliant and mentally amazing athlete, he is improving every day”.

After tracking the Super Ninety Nine leader for most of the race, he took the lead on the straight and won.

Racing season 2014

Goldencents did not reappear until June 7, when he was 121 pounds at the Metropolitan Handicap in Belmont. Mounted by Mike Smith, he took the lead. The colt started as favorite 7/10 for the Bing Crosby Handicap, but finished second again, and missed half a length to renew Big Macher after being hit when leaving the door. The colt was sent to the front by Bejarano from the beginning, before accelerating to leave behind his rivals in the final turn.

This awesome horse surprised us. Its performances allow it to earn and give us a great show. We hope to see more horses like this. Until the next one.
