We already committed in the previous article to make a list of the Horse breeds in an endless task. But little by little we can go over the most known and the most valued breeds. Today we will share with you some of the races and their characteristics of the most valued breeds. The race of the horse determines attributes and characteristics that make it more suitable for some activity. The breeds that we will see next are: Friesians, Percherons and The Lusitanos.

1-Friesian

Originally from Holland, it is a very agile and fast learning horse, which is why it is used in dressage competitions. The elegance in his movements, the sweetness of his temperament and good relationship with humans makes the Friesian another of those desired in the world of horsemanship.

The breed nearly became extinct on more than one occasion. At present, Friesian horse is growing in numbers and popularity, used both in harness and under saddle. The breed is being introduced to the field of dressage.

The Friesian breed is most often recognised by its black coat colour, however, colour alone is not the only distinguishing characteristic.

2- Percherons

Percherons

Due to their strength they are used for shooting competitions, agriculture, transportation and breeding. They are able to travel long distances, adapt easily to changes and resist different climatic conditions.

The Percheron is a breed of draft horse that originated in western France, part of the former Perche province from which the breed takes its name.The head has a straight profile, broad forehead, large eyes and small ears. The chest is deep and wide and the croup long and level. The feet and legs are clean and heavily muscled. Usually gray or black in color.

3- Lusitano

Lusitano Horse

This type of horse is also considered one of the oldest in the world, native of Portugal. The Lusitano are known as war horses. His body is muscular and strong, qualities for which the riders and amazons choose to compete in the various modalities of equestrian sport.

Also known as the Pure Blood Lusitano is a Portuguese horse breed. Lusitanos can be any solid color, although they are generally gray, bay or chestnut. Originally bred for war, dressage and bullfighting, Lusitanos are still used today in the latter two. They have competed in several Olympics and World Equestrian Games as part of the Portuguese and Spanish dressage teams.

The horse is an animal very valuable for its intelligence, combination of strength, resistance and sweetness. Whatever its race we can not forget the important footprint that has left in the history of humanity. Sithout them the life of man would have been more difficult. The horse has served as an instrument of transport, loading and hard work but nowadays its existence is destined to sports. Also it is destined for the special connection rider-horse to rehabilitation for people with disabilities and to be a faithful companion of those who still work the field as well as those who wish go for a walk.
