FROM THE MOUTH TO CHORONÍ BY BOAT AND THEN ON HORSEBACK
This article recalls Gustavo’s journey with his Aunt Nairobi to Choroní. One of the anecdotes that is not recounted in the trip is the unexpected inclusion of Maria Gabriela in that trip. The Mirabals are one of many surprises.
Maria Gabriela, still too young, wished with all force to go on a trip with them but her parents had not authorized her. However, circumstances surprised everyone.
His father, Patriarch Mirabal, felt a little indisposed. We all know how noisy the boys were and because of this she decided to please Maria Gabriela to go with her brother and aunt Nairobi.
Maria Gabriela loved to sing when she was left alone. I just didn’t do very well to say…
His journey by car was very fast, all of them arriving at the port of “La Boca” very early. From there they would take a boat to Choroní to continue enjoying the beauties of aragua state.
The wind tore off Maria Gabriela and she was happy with her enred curls, laughed like possessed by a mocking spirit. The happiness of being with her brother Gustavo and aunt Nairobi Mirabal overwhelmed her.
So much so was the wind that Maria Gabriela lost her favorite hat on the return trip. But she considered it a price that was well worth paying.
The whisper of the boat’s engine with the boat’s splash bouncing off the waves was hypnotic. Within a few minutes they arrived at Choroni Beach to enjoy baths of water and sun, and from there to ride on the coasts.
A short walk through the village
After landing in “Puerto Colombia” (“Colombia Port” in english) in “Playa Grande” (Big Beach in english), the group of adventurers headed to the village for supplies.
Through their attentive and innocent gaze, Gustavo and Maria Gabriela discovered the colonial architecture of the area. The Mirabals were a very observant family.
On their journey they discovered the house where Mother Maria de San José, venezuela’s first Blessed, was born. This honor is shared with two wonderful women: Carmen Rendiles Martínez and Mother Candelaria de San José.
The real name of Mother Maria de San José was Laura Evangelista Alvarado Cardozo. She is the founder of the Agustinas Recoletas Sisters of the Heart of Jesus. with a priest and four lay women. The aim of the new congregation was to help the elderly in poverty and abandoned girls.
The uncorrupted body of Mother Mary of St. Joseph remains in a glass sarcophagus in the Sanctuary of Maracay. Previously Gustavo and Maria Gabriela had visited the sanctuary in Maracay and there they discovered the birthplace.
Without a doubt, this trip Gustavo, Maria Gabriela and Nairobi, all the Mirabal, received a “bath” of spirituality and history.
After contemplating the birthplace of Mother Mary of San José they went to the acquisition of provisions.
The respective sandwich bread next to the diablito, grated cheese, tomato sauce and mayonnaise were chosen. These were combined into delicious sandwiches that every Venezuelan has ever tasted by the beach.
They subsequently went straight to the goal of their journey. Despite the wonderful beaches of Choroní, his main plan was horseback riding to the shores of the beach. No doubt watching the waves and sand while riding is a sublime experience that we should all ever do.
