Jean de La Fontaine (1621-1695)   Interpretation of this fable: In the fable of the ant and the cicada, the cicada when winter comes is devoid of food. Samaniego and his fable world The fables of Samaniego were published in 1784. The moral Fables collect a total of 157 compositions. Samaniego’s fables were distributed in nine books and preceded by a prologue. They were composed for the students of the College of Vergara, whose pedagogical work collaborated. Who was Félix María Samaniego? Spanish writer (Laguardia, 1745 – id., 1801), famous for his moral Fables. Together with Tomás de Iriarte, he is considered the best of the Spanish fabulists.
